Test your ordinary routine in the actual home
A trial stay is most useful when it reproduces the life you intend to lead. This is an editorial test plan for collecting your own observations. Choose ordinary tasks, record what happened and distinguish a pleasant visit from a routine you could sustain.
Write down the exact dwelling, household members, stay dates and intended future use calendar. List essential routines before booking: shopping, appointments, school journeys if relevant, family calls, exercise and caring for pets. Agree which observations would rule out the home and which tradeoffs you could accept.
Keep a daily journey log
Start journeys at the apartment door, including the lift or stairs and the route out of the building. Carry what you would normally carry. Repeat essential errands at the times you expect to make them, including the return journey. Record the route actually used, waiting, changes, weather and any assistance needed.
Use the blank worksheet below once per journey. Put the date, departure and return times in the first column. Identify the source as your observation, a named provider response or a document. An untested return leg remains “not observed.”

For each paid journey, add amount, currency, ticket or quote date, passenger count and whether the price covers a single leg or return. Do not treat a missing price as zero. Ask the responsible transport operator to confirm the intended service and last return; a successful outbound trip does not answer that question.
Test comfort inside the exact unit
Observe the bedroom, living space and access route at different times. Record cooling and heating equipment used, settings, open or closed windows, external noise and how comfortably you slept. Note visible damp, smells or condensation with the room, date and conditions. Ask for investigation where needed rather than diagnosing a building from a brief visit.

Use this second blank log for the home itself. Duplicate rows for cooling, heating, sleep, damp, stairs, lift access and internet. Keep reported conditions distinct from those you personally tested.

If assessing running costs, request bills identifying the meter, coverage dates and occupancy. Record the billed amount, currency, consumption quantity and unit, billing frequency, and equipment-use assumptions. Distinguish the consumption period from the payment date. Mark unavailable entries as missing, not zero, and count each charge once if both a bill total and its components are recorded. Keep your stay's observations separate from estimates for another season; do not extrapolate a partial bill into a complete year.
Check communication and internet where you will use them
Contact the actual clinic, pharmacy, shop or other service you expect to use. Ask who can assist in your preferred language, at what times and whether interpreting requires booking or payment. Record the person's name and date. A helpful conversation at reception does not confirm language support for a later specialist appointment.

For internet, ask the provider about service at the exact unit, installation status, package terms and support. Test your own device where calls or other regular online tasks will happen, including the room and time of day. Record interruptions and whether you used fixed broadband, shared Wi-Fi or mobile data. Verify activities, pets and family journeys
Ask activity organisers directly about current meeting dates, language, venue access, booking, charges and whether sessions continue during your intended season. Attend something you would choose without a holiday schedule. Record how each household member felt rather than assuming the same activity meets everyone's needs.
For pets, request the landlord's and complex management's actual terms. Ask the chosen airline about the specific animal and itinerary. Separately ask the origin authority and Turkish authority which travel and entry requirements apply, then coordinate with your vet. Keep unresolved transport or accommodation questions visible before making bookings.

Repeat the uncertain parts before deciding
If your trial does not include the season you intend to live there, list the missing tests explicitly. Ask what changes in building services, activity schedules and transport, and obtain named, dated responses. Where comfort or access is essential, plan an observation during the relevant conditions rather than treating someone else's description as your result.
Hypothetical example: a household enjoys the apartment's balcony but finds carrying shopping along its access route difficult. They reject that unit because the daily journey conflicts with their mobility needs, while leaving the wider location on their shortlist.
